Where the "grüne Veltliner" rises into the sky
In the middle of lower Austria on the banks of the danube river between the cities of Melk & Krems lies the Wachau valley. Expansive wine terrasses with their special soil and marvelous views form the perfect foundation for Riesling wines, while down in the valley the "grüne Veltliner" fancies the lighter, more sandy soils. This example speaks for the many opposites, that make the wachau valley such a beautiful and special place, that needs to be protected.
